Bicycles, birds and beautiful blooms on a painted cake for Chris & Nutan.

Posted on March 23rd 2017

As soon as Linda contacted me (the lovely mother of the groom) about the wedding cake for Chris and Nutan I knew I was going to love every minute of it. I actually used to work with the grooms sister which is how we were put in contact with each other, and I am so thankful Heather referred me. As soon as I started designing this cake I was counting down the days until I got to make it.

This was my tallest cake to date and I enjoyed all 11 hours it took to paint once constructed. The whole cake was painted to match the invitations for the wedding using the hummingbirds and flowers straight from the stationary but also incorporated the couple’s love of cycling. (I loved the cake stand Linda found!) The flavours of the cake were also some of my favourites: Lemon and cardamon, pistachio, red velvet as well as some large vegan cutting cakes in red velvet, vanilla and lemon.

The wedding itself took place at the Hillbark Hotel in the Wirral. Rebecca and all the lovely guys getting everywhere looking beautiful, were so helpful as I needed to stack the whole cake so had a load of lifting and carrying. The wedding was a large one with over 200 guests so there was lots of activity but not much in the room I was setting up so I am a little light on venue photo’s (sorry!). But I did get some of the brilliant cycle and feather themed stationary that couple created.

That's everything for today on this lovely wedding. Enjoy all the photo's below of the cake and the lovely little touches created by the couple. Congratulations again Chris and Nutan!

With love,

Sarah xx

These are a few sneaky photo's from behind the scenes when I was painting the tiers and extra taster cakes:

Christmas Wishes xxx

It's been a busy old year here at The Sugared Rose HQ with some ups and plenty of downs. But I wanted to end the year with some positive loveliness and who doesn't love a touch of Christmas? So I thought I share a few photos from a very christmassey shoot we took part in for Elens Wedding Photography and Thomasina Brides.

2017 so far in pictures

Posted on August 24th 2017

I had a little look around the site today and was very ashamed to see that I had not completed a blog post since April! All these promises of regular posts and updates and I have yet again failed and let life get in the way (oops!). So I thought as I am still in the midst of a very hectic season and spending a hour or so on every wedding to post is not on the cards right now (unfortunately), I would just post a quick photo filled run down of 2017 so far.
