That day when the amazing Artist Francesca Simpson came to play.

Posted on March 13th 2017

A little while back I had a rather frantic tidy up and frenzied cleaning spree to get our house ready for a little and very welcome artist invasion. Usually I am all about the cakes as you know. But for a while now I have been toying with writing a few more personal blog posts about our (rather slow but steady) home renovation and vintage interior.  So when Francesca asked if she could use parts of our home (the finished bits) as a backdrop for amazing art and products I am afraid I was rather over excited with my acceptance.

So I hope you don't mind but today I am going to wax lyrical about Francesca Simpson Artist and overload you with a few photo's from her visit.

We have a few prints and orginal works of art in our home but by far an away my favourite is a portrait Francesca did for Mr Sugared Rose in pencil, Biro and white pencil of our spaniel Alfie (who also happened to enjoy getting in the way of the photo's). Here is a couple of our personal one on our picture/curios wall in our living room.

Her attention to detail (and use of biro) is just so amazing and I really enjoyed seeing her art in situ in our home making me wish we could buy everything... one day.

'Originally form Northumberland, Francesca Simpson is a self-taught artist based in rural Leicestershire and is mainly inspired by wildlife and nature. Rooted in realism, her style is broadly traditional while her unusual use of biro (Bic medium) for drawing adds a modern quirk.' (I cheekily stole this wording from her website.)

If you want to see more Francesca will be exhibiting at the Country Living Spring Fair, 28th-30th April 2017  at Alexandra Palace, London and you can also find more examples of what Francesca creates using the following links:

So that's it for today it's just onto the photo's below. We stayed mainly in the bedroom and living room. So I am thinking eventually I may do a few more shoots of other rooms like our kitchen and the cake room to show you here on the blog soon (especially as the two featured happen to be the same colour) and I would love to hear if you would like to see more. But for today it's all about Francesca.

A furry visitor makes his appearance known in a couple of these from the living room. Products featured include various framed bunny, stag, deer and donkey artwork, cushions, cards, coasters and mugs.

Do wish I had sorted the curtains out though!

Cheeky...
