The gorgeous winter wedding of Jess and Nigel 19.12.2015

Posted on January 5th 2016

Jessica is one of my best friends, best friends (try saying that really fast over and over!) so I was very flattered to be asked to complete her cake for her wedding to her long time partner Nigel. I had met Jess and Nige at friendly gatherings on a number of occasions over the years and seen how extremely talented Jess is with just about everything. So I wasn't suprised that as well as working full time and looking after their beautiful children, Jess was going to master almost every element of their big day herself. I think I can very safely say she nailed it.

Just wow... a breathtakingly beautiful wedding.

Our little element - the cake:

The lead up to the wedding a few sketches and a couple of consultations included createing a trial cake based on the ideas jess had and the textile bridal bouquets she was completeing for herself and her bridesmaids. They were just stunning and she sent me a few inspiration images and photos of the flowers she had already made prior to out last meeting.

I was then able to complete a mini two tier trial cake fore her and a few cake pops that semmed to go over very well.

Anyway here is the cake all finished the afternoon before and ready for delivery before I got on with the very many cake pops! The cake had vanilla, chocolate and fruit flavoured tiers with edible cake lace decoration, rough (royal) icing details and handmade sugar florals.

I have to say I wasn't quite prepared for what greated me when I got to the venue. Outside it looked like every other village hall but inside... wow what a beautiful winter winderland. Jess and Nige had even created a brilliantly lovely little childrens corner where the spare cake pops (that hadn't disappeared into childrens goddybags) where put ready for little fingers, complete with books toys and an all important candy cart.

And now for the promied pics (many apologies for the photo quality, the light, my camera and me were having an off day!) of the amazing venue styling completed by Jess (with a little help from Nige and family).

So there you have it.

A brilliant wedding to end the year on and awash with a million DIY details from a super talented Bride (Check out her makes, to order online through A Mother'stouch Jessica Clarke) and finally a little Facebook photo bellow of the beautiful couple cutting their cake.

Congratulations again guys!

With love, Sarah xx

It's been a busy old year here at The Sugared Rose HQ with some ups and plenty of downs. But I wanted to end the year with some positive loveliness and who doesn't love a touch of Christmas? So I thought I share a few photos from a very christmassey shoot we took part in for Elens Wedding Photography and Thomasina Brides.

2017 so far in pictures

I had a little look around the site today and was very ashamed to see that I had not completed a blog post since April! All these promises of regular posts and updates and I have yet again failed and let life get in the way (oops!). So I thought as I am still in the midst of a very hectic season and spending a hour or so on every wedding to post is not on the cards right now (unfortunately), I would just post a quick photo filled run down of 2017 so far.
