Winter with a hint of pale pink at Rufford Mill for Kay & Alan.
Posted on February 27th 2017
Kay and Alan were married in a small intimate wedding at Rufford Mill this February and right from the outset Kay knew exactly what she wanted. Kay was brilliant in sending over images of her flowers for reference and colour and even her own design for the cake. I love this. I love it when a couple has a clear idea on what they want their cake to look like. It makes the order so straight forward, albeit adding a bit of pressure to get it exactly as they imagine.
Rufford Mill was so lovely and the staff so accommodating. It's open to the public and the lake was stunning so I highly recommend you plan a little morning over there sometime. The Talbot Suite where the wedding took place was perfect for their small wedding and views from the windows looked out over the water. The whole wedding took place in the one room so I only have a few photo's of the ceremony space but everywhere was looking lovely when I left.
The cake itself was a three tier cake with a pale vintage pink middle tier with edible cake lace. Then a cascade of both handmade sugar and fresh flowers. A great way to get into the swing of my 2017 weddings and I loved the mix of the two. Flavours included Red Velvet, Blueberry and Lemon and Chocolate.
On another note, Kay had actually contacted me initially via her sister as I am going to be completing her sisters wedding cakes later this year so I am so happy I will be creating more for this lovely family soon.
So that's it a short and sweet little blog today. Enjoy all the photo's of the cake and the lovely little touches created by the couple below . Congratulations again Kay and Alan the new Mr & Mrs Ward.
With love,
Sarah xx
P.S. I also had this lovely message after the day - makes my job so worth it!
'Thank you so much Sarah for the cake.... it was amazing! .... the cake looked beautiful and tasted sensational. All the staff at Rufford commented on how beautiful the cake was and how good it was to slice, they said don't often come across cakes that are they right consistency for cutting. I'm looking forward to eating your cake again at my sisters wedding this coming November. Once again thank you so much ... xx'
