A cute birdcage cake for a vintage winter wedding

My first wedding order and in fact the first order for 2015 and I have to say I loved it from the get go. A woman after my own heart, the lovely bride Joanna loved all things flower, vintage and bird related (My very favorite things!)
On paper the timing of this wedding order could not have been worse as the Sugared Rose HQ was about to be in complete chaos (more on that another day) but not to be detered it actually became one of the most fun so far to complete as it was a welcome break and get away from everyhing going on around us.

I love weddings and creating a wedding cake (or cakes) is my favourite type of order to complete. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy everything I do, I am very lucky, I really do! It’s just there is something about a wedding and creating something for, not only the couple but for their closest friends and family that makes it all the more special. So the new year has been and gone and we are all struggling to stick to those pesky (but well intentioned) New Year’s resolutions. 2014 was a quiet year wedding wise for us but a busy year all things cake, all things business related and all things wedding.

Estelle & David - A glittery winter wedding at Shottle Hall

Estelle first contacted me at the beginning of the year looking for a wedding cake that combined both her French heritage and David's wish for a traditional white wedding cake. Such a really lovely and genuine couple, we had many get together's to go over ideas, themes and colours.
